Mississippi River

By any standard, the Mississippi River is one of the world’s great rivers. It carries roughly 60% of the agricultural exports of the United States and is a nationally significant ecosystem as well as a nationally significant transportation system. Much writing about the river, though, remains under the shades of its mythic past, particularly as that past was captured in the work of Mark Twain. Here we post some of the most innovative and generative new thinking about the Mississippi, thinking that will be needed to carry us forward into a relationship with the river that centers equity and resilience.
